In short: 2-7 business days. If you’re curious about how we operate, read on. Otherwise, go back to watching Netflix.
Our luxury goods involve two shipment steps: dispatch and transit. Dispatch takes 1-2 business days. This involves final quality control, packaging, and shipment preparation. This occurs in Toronto at our HQ. Then, transit itself takes 1-5 business days, depending on where you are located. The U.S. East Coast is usually 3 business days, and U.S. West Coast, Europe, and Asia are usually about 5. Canadian East Coast orders generally arrive 1 day after dispatch.
So with our free shipping option, you’ll have your bag in 2-7 business days. Trust us: it’s worth the wait for a handcrafted Daveed! Note that business days do not include weekends or Canadian holidays.
In most countries, there is an Express option available with an additional charge you’ll see at checkout. It is typically between US$40 and US$50 for arrival in 1-2 business days.
We use UPS tracked Standard and Expedited Shipping. Every package has a tracking number, and you can sign up for text message or email updates when you have access to your tracking.
Sorry, we can’t. Our bags already deliver exceptional value and shipping internationally is an expensive cost we absorb to make our bags accessible. Our European customers report that bags of similar quality are often double or triple the price at home. So, we still think it’s worth it. But that’s for you to decide!
A signature is generally required. UPS attempts delivery 3 times to you, a doorperson or concierge, or your porch if one is available. If there are somehow no options for delivery after 3 attempts (this is extremely rare), the package will be returned to us, and your order refunded, less the roundtrip (2-way) shipping charges incurred by Daveed to ship the package to and from your destination. The above terms also apply if you choose to reject the package when it arrives.
Returns are rare, and we want you to feel safe ordering online and have a chance to see and feel your bag before you use it. That’s why we have a low-risk return policy, including during COVID-19. We offer free returns and exchanges within 30 days of purchase on all regular priced bags and pouches purchased by customers in continental North America. Product must be unused and in original condition with all original packaging. If the item is damaged or found to be used, there will be no refund. Note that our Organic Leather Care Cream is final sale. Express Shipping charges aren't refundable. In all cases, the product is the customer's responsibility until it arrives back at our HQ. In the rare case of loss, you will be liable for the order.
If you purchased a Bundle and return your Travel Pouch which was discounted to US$95 (or the equivalent), you will be refunded the discounted amount. If you purchased a Bundle and return the larger (undiscounted) item in the Bundle and keep the Travel Pouch, the Travel Pouch will be valued at the regular US$145 price (or equivalent) and the remainder of your payment refunded. Put differently, buying a Bundle and returning the larger (undiscounted) item will not result in the Travel Pouch alone being discounted after your refund. This is a way to prevent potential scams, which unfortunately are prevalent in the online world!
Tracked return shipping is free in continental North America. There is no restocking fee. Outside of continental North America, your order is final sale.

If your item was purchased at a rare discount or sale on our website (anywhere in the world), the item is final sale. The FREECARDHOLDER code, which discounts your purchase by $0.01, obviously does not count as a true discount and these items are counted as regular priced items.
If you purchased a Bundle, this is also considered to be a regular priced purchase and you should see the question above for our policy!
Bag Care
Our leather is resilient, but harsh winters and accidents can cause staining. Use water and a soft brush to remove any stains. Whatever you get out is good, and whatever doesn’t disappear with water will have to stay. Don’t use solvent and don’t use detergent!
After cleaning let the bag dry slowly at room temperature. Don’t stick it in the oven or under a hair drier or similar to speed up the drying. After the leather is dry again, apply a leather wax or conditioner.
When our Nixburg Bullskin® is new it has everything it need for a long, beautiful life. One of the biggest problems for any leather, though, is that it dries up by being stored in hot and dry places, like direct sunlight, on a heater, or in a hot car. Once leather dries up, fibers may start to break and the leather can rip. The key is to avoid letting your leather dry up.
To do so, storage under normal conditions is recommended – meaning a place that isn’t excessively hot or dry. Your Daveed GOTS-certified organic cotton cover will provide some extra protection from dust and the elements. If for some reason the bag is stored on a regular basis in a dry and hot place, we recommend a leather conditioner or wax – and especially our Daveed Organic Leather Care Cream. But read on first.
When it comes to leather care most consumers either don’t do it at all or they overdo it! Both are not good in the long run.
Leather waxes and conditioners bring moisture back into the leather and prevent it from drying up. If you’re using the bag under normal conditions, applying once a year is likely good enough.
If you live in a hot climate or keep your Daveed bag in a hot car every day, you probably need to apply every 6 months or so.
Every conditioner or wax will change the look of the bag. Wax has a tendency to make leather darker and will result in a warm, more matte and buttery feel to the leather. Commonly used leather conditioners, which usually contain a mixture of silicone and other things – often chemicals – make the leather surface more slippery and shiny.
Our Daveed Organic Leather Care Cream, with beeswax and natural oils as key ingredients, falls into the wax category. So the more it’s applied the more the look of the leather will subtly change – in a good way!
Whatever you use, apply a small amount first to a hidden spot to ensure you’re OK with the effect.
Simple ingredients from nature is what we believe in. They do the job beautifully on our natural leather.
So: beeswax, coconut oil, lemongrass and other organic ingredients is what’s in there. See here for the full description. Of course, if you're allergic to any of these ingredients, don't use our cream.
Product & Sustainability
The Travel Duffle and The Slim Briefcase include a detachable, adjustable, foam-cushioned shoulder strap.
Our bags are individually laser-numbered and made in small batches of 20 to 100 at a time. So, they’re definitely one-of-a-kind. However, at this point, we don’t do further embossing or stamping of initials on bags. Stay tuned on this one – it’s a future priority.
Leather is one of the world’s most ancient and durable ingredients. Vegan leathers are often made of PU and PVC – plastic, oil-based products which wear down quickly and end up in our landfills and oceans. However, not all leathers are created equal. Companies that use exotic skins instead of meat by-products, deplete water resources, dump effluent in rivers, burn huge amounts of fossil fuels at tanneries, and force workers in countries with weak laws to tan leather in toxic chemicals without protection are contributing to the major problems that the leather industry causes.
We estimate that 95% or more of leathers have minimal respect for the environment and workers. This must end. By working in Germany, a country with strict agricultural laws, labour laws, and environmental stewardship, and working with a partner who respects traditional methods of craftsmanship while also applying 21st-century technology we’ve found a rare way to make leather sustainable. Actually.
